About ACADEMY:
SANGEETKA–is a premiere academy for Kathak and Classical music. The academy is career oriented and trains students with the objective of making them independent choreographers, performers and teachers. Established in 21 Feb’’1975 and registered under punjab act
AFFILIATION:
Sangeetka is affiliated to Prayag Sangeet Samiti from the Prarambik level to the Visharad Poorna(degree level) The child is trained till the post graduation level .The exams till the graduation level is taken at this centre and post graduation level at prayag samiti Allahabad
WHAT WE DO FOR OUR STUDENTS:
  1. On admission each child is given a set of theory and practical notes, music book and a practice CD for the practice of steps till the second level.
  2. As the child progresses the presentation CDs are provided consisting of the songs in the student’s curriculum at a veryminimal charge.
  3. Classical vocal music is taught free of charge because music is part and parcel of any art form and knowledge in it enables them to be better artists. Regular internal exams are conducted in the last three months before the final exam so that the child can fare well and is familiar with all sorts of questions.
  4. On graduation from the academy the candidate may be absorbed into the academy as paid staff.
THE ARANGETRAM:
After completing a full set of items, i.e. the Margam, the student is ready to perform the arangetram.The Arangetram means the first full fledged kathak/Bharatanatyam/kuchipudi/oddissi performance of a young artiste who performs in an auditorium in front of a distinguished and cultured audience, press and media. The Arangetram is a landmark in the life of a dance artiste just like an examination in the life of a student. In this performance the young artiste proves to the world that she is a good Bharatanatyam artiste.
The expenditure of the performance is that of the parents and is about 1 lac rupees which includes the cost of booking of hall, printing of invitations, costume and jewellery, photography and portfolio, refreshments, orchestra payments, honouring of Guru and presentations etc.
After the Arangetram the young budding artiste can get opportunities for solo performances at various organizations, like ICCR, EPI centre,PSK,Dilli Haat, Indian Habitat Centre or abroad.

Admission procedure:
Sangeetka takes admissions twice a year, in the month of April and October (during the time Vijayadashami). Since the admissions taken are limited, the registration opens one month in advance. On the day of the admission pooja is performed for the student. The student should bring one coconut, flowers, fruits (even in number), Agarbatti and Guru Dakshina.

Rules and Regulations:
  1. Students should be punctual and regular in the classes.
  2. Students who miss more than three classes without notice will be demotedlowerbatch.
  3. Students should come in proper uniform: yellow kurta, red salwar and red dupatta till 2nd level and green kurta, red salwar and red dupatta till5thyear.
  4. Fees should be paid positively by the 10th of January, April, July and October.
  5. Students are expected to participate in cultural functions organised bytheacademy.
  6. Parents are requested to follow their ward’s progress and to supervisetheirpractices.
  7. The summer break will be of duration of 15 -20 days in the month in themonthofMayandJune.
  8. Fees will be collected for all twelve months irrespective of holidays.
  9. Student who misses the classes for more than three months then re-admission charges will be taken.
